webOS 1.1 Update for the Palm Pre

It appears that Palm is working hard to improve the webOS platform. Circulating rumors indicate that the webOS 1.1 update for the Palm Pre may be available within thirty days!

The webOS 1.1 update for the Palm Pre will reportedly provide important additions to the platform. For instance, users will get improved Exchange Active Sync policies and Security from webOS 1.1.

The Exchange Active Sync improvements in this update includes:

  • IT-initiated remote wipe
  • Required PIN with complexity
  • Device wipe after a certain number of failed PIN attempts
  • Auto-lock
  • Improved digital certificates

So what else comes with the webOS 1.1 update for the Palm Pre?

Well, there will be loads of new applications. Unfortunately, it's not clear if the apps will originate from Palm or new 3rd party additions to the App Catalog. Nevertheless, any additions to the Palm App Catalog will be welcome.

Looks like a solid update for me. The improvements and additions offered by the webOS 1.1 for the Palm Pre will make the device more suitable for corporate use.
